Before modern medicine, people used home remedies for ear infections. These remedies have been used and tested over time to relieve the pain and discomfort of this painful condition. Many of these home remedies remain as effective today as they were centuries ago. Ear infections are a very common ailment, especially in young children, and can be painful and extremely uncomfortable.

The main symptoms of an ear infection are earache as well as fever and sometimes nausea. Many of the ear infections go away on their own in a few days, and do not need treatment. Otherwise, here are a few traditional remedies for ear infections. Garlic and onion contain antibacterial compounds that are effective in treating ear infections. There are some ways to take advantage of these products for home remedies for ear infections.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 Strainer
  • Dropper
  • Water

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil. Grate or shred a little onion and garlic cloves.
  • Add two tablespoons each to the pan. Add a tablespoon of water and cool slightly.
  • Strain the onion and garlic into a jar or bottle.
  • Use a dropper or eyedropper to put a few drops on the infected ear. Tilt your head or, preferably, lie on your side for 15 minutes. Drain and rinse ear with water.

Ingredients

5 Garlic cloves

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • Clean bottle or bottle
  • Cotton ball

Grate or season the garlic cloves. Place the crushed garlic in a clean jar and pour in the olive oil. Leave the garlic in the olive oil for four or five days. Strain the garlic oil into a jar and store in the refrigerator. It will also be maintained for up to six months.

To use garlic oil for an ear infection, leave it at room temperature and then put three to four drops into the ear. Keep your head tilted or have a cap tightly with a cotton ball. Do this three times a day for four to five days.

Other ways to use garlic or onion as home remedies for ear infections

Buy some liquid garlic oil capsules at your local pharmacy. Heat a cup of water and place the capsule for a minute or two to warm gently. Click a hole in the capsule. Squeeze three or four drops into the affected ear. Lie on your side or keep your head elevated for at least 5 minutes. Put a clove of garlic peeled into the affected ear, and hold it in place with a cotton ball.

Note: Never use garlic oil as a remedy for an ear infection if you have a discharge in the ear or if there is any possibility that the eardrum may be perforated. Sometimes, an earache can be caused by a blocked Eustachian tube. In this case, yawning or swallowing may be all you need to do to unlock it and relieve pain. These actions serve to open the way of passage between the ear and the trunk. If it is a child who has earache, giving him some water can have the same effect.

Being standing can also unlock a Eustachian tube naturally, if you have earache during sleep, try to sit upright in bed for a few minutes. You can also pinch your nose closed, and take a deep breath. Keep your mouth shut blow the air down your nose without letting the air out.
