In neurological disorders of the foot found the posterior tarsal tunnel syndrome, anterior, and Morton’s neuroma. Causes and Symptoms.

Similar to carpal tunnel syndrome in which the median nerve is compressed as it passes through them forearm to the hand, lower limb nerve committed, called posterior tibial, is trapped in the tarsal canal going from the leg to the foot.

Causes of tarsal tunnel syndrome

Passing through the inside of the ankle, the posterior tibial nerve is accompanied both tendons and artery and veins. It is in this region, the internal macromolecular , any event that inflame the symptoms wake zone, both affecting the continent (the tube itself) or content (nerves, vessels and tendons).

Some causes are:

* Ganglia
* Tendinitis or tendinitis
* Fractures
* Micro trauma to repeat that inflame the content
* Sprains or dislocations
* Rheumatoid Arthritis
* Tumors
* Varicose Veins
* Anatomical changes as hind foot valorous

What are the symptoms of tarsal tunnel syndrome?

* Tingling or numbness in the foot
* Foot pain
* Stinging or burning sensation
* Decreased sensitivity
* Loss of muscle tone
* It can be seen on the inner side of the ankle swelling or redness zone
* Symptoms are exacerbated at night or during a march intense
* Relieved by repositioning the foot, massaging the area or with chemotherapy and thermotherapy alternating.

Anterior tarsal tunnel syndrome

In some cases, the nerve affected is the tibial is anterior , which passes through the neck of the foot on the way down, passing beneath the anterior annular ligament of the tarsus. The causes and symptoms are the same as back syndrome, the symptoms only manifested on the doldrums of the foot.

Thomas Morton Disease

Another compressive neuropathy in the foot, is the neuritis or Morton’s neuroma. In this condition, intercourse nerves that run into the space between the metatarsals, are compressed causing pain to severe tingling and strong mode punctures. It is unilateral, usually occurs on one foot. The nerve most affected is located between the third and fourth metatarsal. One theory that attempts to explain why this is the most common nerve involved, is that in this space generate an anatomists or union between a branch of the external plantar nerve and the internal plantar, a situation that does not happen in other spaces intercourse .

Probable causes include the presence of a neuroma, nerve entrapment in the anatomical conduit or housing it alteration accompanying artery and which will indirectly generate ischemia and lack of nutrients.The patient should stop driving, remove their shoes and wiggle your toes or get massages to relieve discomfort. As we see, the changes in the foot nerve compression occur. We must not forget also the diabetic foot in diabetic neuropathy that affects the sensitivity of it contributing to infections and skin lesions.
